Everton gem wanted on loan in January, injuries to play factor - report

Everton will factor in Tim Iroegbunam and James Garner’s injuries when deciding whether to loan out Harrison Armstrong in January, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The newspaper reported [5 November] that the 17-year-old is raising interest from clubs in League One and the Championship ahead of January.

With the injuries to Iroegbunam and Garner, Armstrong has seen his influence grow in the senior squad, and their return dates with play a factor in the decision.

The English youngster has broken into the senior team and made a place for himself in Sean Dyche’s squad, being on the bench in every Premier League fixture in the current campaign.

The 17-year-old made his debut when he came on in the final minutes of the 4-0 loss to Tottenham in the Premier Lague on 24 August.

Then, in the Carabao Cup against Southampton on 17 September, the midfielder got his first start as the Toffees lost to the Saints on penalties.

The Blues have been without some key players since the start of the season, Jarrad Branthwaite being one of them.

Garner has had his fair share of fitness issues since his move from Manchester United, and the midfielder has been unable to find consistency in the team.

Dyche’s available midfield options at the moment include Idrissa Gueye, Orel Mangala and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Armstrong adds depth to the squad, and it would seem sensible to keep him around the senior squad for now and reassess his future next summer.
