Everton hold transfer rope as player makes U-turn in final hours - report

Lyon attacker Ernest Nuamah is now favouring the offer made by Fulham over Everton, according to Santi Aouna.

The journalist reported via X (30 August) that despite the Toffees “holding the rope” for his transfer, the attacker would now prefer a move to the Cottagers.

It comes after Nuamah was said to have accepted the offer to move to Goodison Park before 11 pm.

In what seems like a never-ending saga, Everton are no closer to signing Nuamah before the deadline.

Sean Dyche has made additions to his squad which have no doubt improved Everton’s overall ability tenfold, despite a poor start to the season.

However, Nuamah would be a special transfer and would really show that the club means business.

Although he’s only spent one season within Europe’s top five leagues, the potential he showed has been second to none.

Jesper Lindstrom is a player who has been brought to Goodison Park [Shamoon Hafez, 5 August] to try and replace Arnaut Danjuma. And, although his arrival is an exciting one, he alone can’t carry an entire forward line.

If Nuamah eventually chooses to join the Toffees, he’d improve their attack massively and perhaps even offer the club another option as a number nine.

Only time will tell what the future has in store for the Lyon ace but Everton needs to know sooner rather than later so that they can explore other options.
