Everton are “hopeful” that their transfer business will have helped them dodge a third point deduction after new updates at Leicester City, according to Chris Beesley.

The Blues’ Premier League rivals appear to have dodged a potential points deduction after the Premier League (3 September) confirmed that an independent Appeal Board had upheld their appeal against an alleged PSR breach.

Developments at the King Power Stadium are expected to have frustrated the Toffees, but Liverpool Echo journalist Beesley insists that the Blues’ business was planned to comply with PSR.

Speaking on The Royal Blue Mersey YouTube channel (6 September, 15:10) he said: “I understand that Everton are hopeful that the deals they did over the summer were based around making sure it didn’t happen to them for a third time.

“There’s also the stuff which carried over from last season in terms of stadium loans. That is still yet to be resolved and I understand that there hasn’t been any movement on that score as of yet.”

Could Everton face another point deduction after developments at Goodison Park?

It’s safe to say that nobody in the footballing world expected Leicester to get away without any punishment when the initial allegations were laid against them after their relegation from the Premier League.

Although the independent pannels’s decision could directly impact the Blues in terms of this year’s relegation fight, it will have also frustrated Sean Dyche’s side given the punishment they faced last term.

Hopefully, the Toffees’ confidence won’t have been misplaced and they will have managed to comply with the division’s financial fair play rules this time around.

It would be an even greater kick in the teeth if the Foxes dodged a deduction and Everton were hit with one for the third time in just two seasons. If those in charge at Goodison are right, that shouldn’t be the case.

However, a more definitive takeover solution is needed sooner rather than later so any further financial fears can be put to bed in the near future.
