Graham Potter has multiple admirers at Everton as Sean Dyche comes under increasing pressure, according to TBR Football.

A report on the outlet’s website on 5 September said that the top brass at Goodison Park are “hugely concerned” by the performances on the pitch so far in the final campaign at the club’s historic home.

Therefore Dyche’s future is said to have been discussed “in detail” while former Brighton and Chelsea boss Potter is one option with backing on Merseyside.

As things stand Dyche is expected to be given more time and has been told so, but a change has been considered.

Potter, 49, has been out of work for over a year after his short-lived spell at Chelsea came to an end in April 2023, following three years at Brighton.

Three defeats from three in the Premier League to start the campaign is one thing for Dyche, but the manner of the late capitulation to Crystal Palace and his comments after the game have particularly enraged Evertonians [Michael Ball, 2 September].

With the situation at the top of the club the way it is there is reason to doubt how much of an appetite there is to make a managerial change, with Farhad Moshiri trying to sell to John Textor after multiple failed takeovers and an interim board still in charge.

But amid suggestions that he could be the first Premier League boss to go this term [ESPN, 2 September] it sounds like action is being considered behind the scenes and Dyche’s job isn’t safe if things don’t improve.

Potter has proven he can build a successful project in the Premier League at the Amex, and his struggles at Stamford Bridge can arguably be written off thanks to the unique chaos he was operating through with their new ownership.

But after being burned by that experience he may be reluctant to step back into work in what it is probably now the most tumultuous Premier League job there is.

The former Swansea boss has rejected the likes of Ajax over the past year [Sky Sports, 8 April] as he waits for the right opportunity to return, and it would perhaps be a surprise if he sees that as Everton as things stand.

After a takeover, if it ever comes, it would be a different matter altogether but the club would need to be very certain he was interested before making a move on Dyche if that is the direction they wish to go.

In other Everton news, the chances of a star player quitting the club for nothing have now “risen significantly”.
