'Bang in trouble' - Deeney shares new Everton relegation verdict after loss v Bournemouth

Troy Deeney has admitted that he is not confident Everton and Sean Dyche will avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

The Toffees are rooted to the bottom of the table without a win after the first three games of the season having thrown away a two-goal lead in the final minutes of their clash with Bournemouth.

While most pundits and supporters still expect the Blues to find a way to dodge the drop, BBC Sport pundit Deeney admits they are “bang in trouble” at this moment in time at Goodison Park.

Speaking on Up Front with Simon Jordan (5 September, 20:00) he said: “When it gets to 2-1, the fourth official puts the board up, you’d expect [Jordan] Pickford, [James] Tarkowski and alike to be like we don’t lose this game, every ball hits the channel.

“They all went the other way. They’re bang in trouble. I’ve watched them twice live, I’m not as confident as you right now.

“There’s something there, there’s something missing.”

Will Everton be relegated and will Sean Dyche be sacked?

Even the most optimistic of Everton supporters would agree with Deeney’s assessment that the Toffees appear to be “bang in trouble” at this stage of the Premier League season.

Although the Blues have started slowly in the past under Dyche, they have very rarely looked this poor both in and out of possession and that will have set alarm bells ringing through the corridors of Goodison Park.

Of course, Jarrad Branthwaite’s injury and the loss of Amadou Onana have to be taken into account, however, there is still enough quality in this Toffees squad to not only hold onto a lead against Bournemouth but avoid relegation.

Fortunately, there is still plenty of football to be played between now and the end of the season and even more points left to win.

If the Blues return from the international break fresh and raring to go, they still have plenty of time to make the final season at Goodison a memorable one for the right reasons.
