Everton will miss out on a deal for Vitor Roque due to Barcelona’s reluctance to let him leave permanently, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish publication reported on page 6 of their 22 August print edition that the 19-year-old is now set to sign a season-long loan with Real Betis, continuing in La Liga.

The report claims that whilst Everton were willing to match the initial asking price of £25.5m, the proposal did not allow Barca to have a recall or buy-back option on the player as is the case with Betis.

Sean Dyche will no doubt have wanted Roque to become an Everton player, and it would have been likely he would start plenty of Premier League matches this season.

It is also revealed that the young Brazilian himself finds the Betis loan option an attractive prospect, due to their style of football and regular opportunities he will receive.

His imminent new club are currently competing to enter the Conference League, having finished seventh in La Liga last term.

As for Dyche and the Toffees, the club’s forward options currently stand at just Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison as by-trade wide players, whilst one or two strikers at Goodison Park may still leave the club.

Roque has so far appeared 16 times for the Barca first team, scoring twice, as the Blues move onto other targets following the blow.
