Everton open talks with out-of-work manager to succeed Dyche - report

Everton have already opened talks with David Moyes to replace Sean Dyche if he loses his job before the end of the season, according to TBR Football.

The online outlet reported on 12 October that the Blues will consider hiring out-of-work Moyes on an interim basis, with Dan Friedkin preferring to offer the permanent position to former employee Jose Mourinho [Graeme Bailey].

The Friedkin Group are expected to complete their proposed takeover of the club, with documents already filed with Companies House, and Friedkin has already begun plans of shaping a new era for the Toffees.

David Moyes could return to Everton this season

Everton have been a mess from top to bottom under current owner Farhad Moshiri. The meticulous planning of succeeding Dyche with Moyes on an interim basis, paving the way for a shock Premier League return for Mourinho, is exactly what has been missing at the club.

It has largely been downhill for the Blues on the pitch since Moyes left for Manchester United in 2013, barring the brief spell under Carlo Ancelotti, with a succession of managers failing to stick it out at Goodison Park.

Moyes knows the club inside and out and still has the credentials to lead the side, albeit on an interim basis, after his success with West Ham United when winning the Europa Conference League and, in many ways, he was unfairly forced out of the East London outfit.

While Dyche has somewhat turned around the fortunes on the pitch with two draws and one win in his last three Premier League outings, all the intense speculation linking prospective candidates, including Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Graham Potter, to his job all but spells his time on Merseyside will soon end.

The Blues could become a revolutionised side under Mourinho – his pedigree not just in England but across Europe would be hard to find anywhere else, and he is the standout candidate among those named.

Friedkin is showing intent before his foot is through the door at Everton. Unfortunately for Dyche, he is seemingly set to become a casualty and make way for Mourinho to usher in the new era at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.
