Everton plan for Dyche exit as behind-scenes talks on manager who wants the job emerge - report

Everton have held talks behind the scenes about moving on from Sean Dyche and David Moyes has been discussed as a replacement, GiveMeSport reports.

According to the outlet’s website on 23 September that former Toffees boss would welcome a return to Goodison Park with Dyche under pressure following a terrible start to the season.

Sources say Moyes, 61, is ready to step in regardless of whether Farhad Moshiri is in charge or Dan Friedkin completes his takeover, a deal for which was announced on 23 September.

The Scot is available after leaving West Ham at the expiry of his contract in the summer while Dyche has drawn one and lost four of his first five Premier League matches this season.

David Moyes wants Everton return regardless of Friedkin takeover

It should come as no surprise at all that Moyes has his eye on returning to Everton when he has been doing the media rounds recently looking to bolster his credentials as the face of past success at Goodison.

Richard Keys was teeing him up to do so live on beIN Sports at the weekend (22 September) as he helped the former Sunderland and Real Sociedad boss position himself as the obvious candidate to rescue the Toffees if Dyche is dispatched.

Were Farhad Moshiri ready to pull the trigger on another sacking in the coming weeks it is hard to see past Moyes as the replacement, as it would be a surprise for the current owner to splash out on a more progressive option.

Sacking Dyche is believed to put the club on the hook to pay him for an extra year even though his contract expires in the summer [The Esk, 15 September] so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Moshiri wanted to avoid that at all costs.

But with the Friedkin takeover news all bets are off and a managerial change in the near-future seems that much more likely when the American is expected to gain Premier League approval within two to three months [Ben Jacobs, 23 September].

Dyche’s future is far less secure as a result, but Moyes’ chances of taking over have surely taken a massive hit as well since the new owner would have the finances to pursue a more modern coach and is unlikely to want to look like he is taking a step back into the past.

In other Everton news, Moshiri is set to make a “huge” nine-figure loss on selling the Toffees according to Alan Myers.
