Everton player in 'Advanced' talks to leave club, replacement already identified - report

Newcastle United are now at an “advanced” stage in their pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin as Everton eye Armando Broja from Chelsea as a replacement, according to GiveMeSport.

The outlet has reported (23 June) that the English forward is “keen” on a move to the Magpies to work under Eddie Howe.

With the 27-year-old on the move, the Toffees could move to sign Broja from Chelsea as a replacement option this summer.

With talks advancing between Newcastle and Calvert-Lewin, Sean Dyche’s side could be left light upfront if they don’t bring someone in.

The Toffees will need a new striker option if they are to sell Calvert-Lewin to Newcastle this summer, which seems to be gaining momentum.

Although he hasn’t always been the most consistent number nine, Calvert-Lewin has provided various managers with a focal point at Goodison Park.

With the nature of PSR and the punishments that the Premier League will hand out if they are breached, selling him could be necessary.

It must be said that signing Broja could prove to be a useful replacement option for the Englishman, despite not quite being a direct like-for-like replacement.

They do both like having the ball played into them and they look to hold it up, but the Chelsea man may be more mobile.

He is currently part of the Albania squad at the Euros, so a move may have to wait until his side exit the tournament.

After a poor second half of the season at Fulham, he may be available on a more affordable deal this summer and that could prove to be a useful piece of business.
