Everton player ready to quit Goodison as £10m bid submitted - Dharmesh Sheth

Ben Godfrey is open to a move away from Everton, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via X (26 June) that Olympique Lyonnais have made a £10million bid for the defender.

It comes after David Ornstein reported via X (26 June) that Atalanta had made an £8.4million offer of their own.

The Toffees value the 26-year-old, who is out of contract next year, at £15million.

This development is fantastic news for Everton.

If the Toffees want to drive up a higher price for Godfrey, multiple clubs being interested in the player will only help them reach their target.

There is no need for the club to rush, and they should look to hold firm on their valuation for as long as possible.

It is still early days in the summer transfer window and there is, therefore, every chance that either Atalanta or Lyon will push closer and closer to the £15million mark.

And if either club does, it would represent a significant sale at Goodison Park.

Godfrey is a versatile player with plenty of experience and could therefore certainly command a fee of £15million.

However, Everton must be careful that they don’t wait too long.

Godfrey only has a year left on his contract. As a result, the club could lose him for free next summer if a sale isn’t made before September.
