Club submits bid to hijack Everton agreement for transfer before end of this week - Di Marzio

Olympique Lyonnais have offered £33.8million for Everton target Yankuba Minteh, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian journalist reported via X (26 June) that the 19-year-old Newcastle United forward has an agreement with Everton.

Eddie Howe’s side need to make sales before 30 June.

As reported by Football Transfers (25 June), Everton have refused to meet the Magpies’ asking price for Minteh.

Everton unlikely to sign Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United

Minteh would be a brilliant addition at Goodison Park.

The forward scored 11 goals and provided five assists in all competitions for Feyenoord while on a season-long loan with the club last year.

However, although it appears he had agreed on personal terms with the Toffees, it is no surprise that the club weren’t willing to meet Newcastle’s demands.

If Lyon have offered £33.8million for the player, that is simply unaffordable for Everton.

Despite the impending takeover of the club by Dan Friedkin, there are still plenty of financial issues hanging over Goodison Park like a grey cloud.

Spending that kind of money on a 19-year-old would not be sensible, and the Toffees might be forced to concede defeat to Lyon on this occasion.

Everton have been linked with a move for Yankuba Minteh

They already appear to be spending elsewhere, with Iliman Ndiaye reportedly close to joining the club (via Fabrizio Romano, 26 June), and as a result, they might not be able to sign Minteh as well.

In other Everton news, a takeover verdict has been shared after a £200million development at Goodison Park.
