Everton set to boost wider UK economy by £1billion+ with new stadium - report

Everton moving to Liverpool’s waterfront is expected to boost the wider UK economy by over £1billion, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Echo reported on 29 September that the Toffees’ relocation to their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock could create “tens of thousands” of new job opportunities in northern parts of the city.

A UK-wide boost of over £1billion has also been predicted following the stadium’s completion and opening in 2025, providing a transformational effect to that area.

Everton can be revitalised by Bramley-Moore Dock move

While the completion of the Toffees’ new state-of-the-art home ground looks set to regenerate an entire area of Liverpool, fans will, at least immediately, be much more concerned with the in-house benefits.

Those are also set to be plentiful, however, with matchday income alone forecast to be boosted by £40million within two seasons [Kieran Maguire, 8 July], dwarfing what the club can bring in from Goodison Park.

On top of this, outside investment generated by the stadium will also pay dividends for the club itself, with new kit manufacturers Castore having already signed up for a groundbreaking partnership deal [Liverpool Echo, 15 June].

Added to this, the stadium’s location and modernised build give the Toffees the option of hosting events outside of football, providing a year-round facility the club and city alike can make use of.

With Dan Friedkin on the verge of completing a takeover of the club and a game-changing stadium move on the horizon, things are looking up on the blue half of Merseyside for the first time in a long time.

In other Everton news, The Esk have shared their prediction on who Dan Friedkin could appoint in a key off-field role at Goodison.
