Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell will sanction the loan exits of more academy talents before the transfer deadline, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Writing on their live transfer blog [29 August], the news outlet reported the Blues will look to secure loan moves for their academy players before the 30 August deadline.
Eli Campbell joined Scottish Premiership side Ross County on a season-long loan on Thursday (29 August), with more loan departures from Goodison Park now set to follow.
Everton target loan moves for academy players
Given the situation surrounding Everton, it seems foolish to sanction loan moves for academy players that could benefit a thin Blues squad.
Sean Dyche is still missing several key first-team players at the start of the season despite Seamus Coleman and James Garner returning to the side in the 3-0 win against Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday [27 August].
The Blues are in desperate need of bolstering the squad in the final days of the transfer window but, unfortunately, the club find themselves in a catch-22 situation, needing to raise funds through player sales to fund arrivals.
Everton are yet to offload their unwanted stars this summer, with Mason Holgate struggling to engineer a Goodison Park exit [Harry Watkinson] and the future of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin yet to be resolved [Alan Myers] in the days approaching the 30 August deadline.
Thelwell has since gotten creative in his approach to raise much-needed cash for the club and an efflux of loan departures for the youth players seems to be the approach.
It is not the most efficient source of income but can be effective. The Blues should receive a nominal fee for any loan move and will temporarily move on the player’s small wages, although ultimately the main incentive is getting the youngsters minutes at a higher level.
It is a method that benefits all parties. The subsequent player will gain senior first-team experience and will return at the end of the season either ready to help push for a first-team berth or can be sold on a permanent deal for a healthy profit.
With the clock ticking down and the Toffees desperate for cash, it seems Thelwell is having one last roll of the dice to provide Dyche with the funds necessary to add the final pieces of the puzzle to his Everton side.
In other Everton news, the Blues have reached an agreement with Spezia over a midfielder transfer.
