Everton Sources: Friedkin update on Branthwaite move revealed

Everton haven’t changed their position since the summer transfer window regarding their stance on Jarrad Branthwaite’s future, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the new owners “don’t really want to sell” Branthwaite.

The Friedkin Group would only consider selling the 22-year-old for a fee of around £75million, which is a similar figure to what other clubs have paid for central defenders.

Sources have told Football Insider that it’s “extremely unlikely” the Friedkin Group would let the England international leave during the upcoming January transfer window.

Everton don’t want to weaken their squad midway through the season, and letting one of their prized assets leave would send out the wrong signals to the club supporters.

The England international is under contract at Goodison Park until 2027.

Everton have no intention of selling Jarrad Branthwaite

The Merseyside club revealed last month that an agreement had been reached with The Friedkin Group over the sale of Farhad Moshiri’s 94% stake, and they are set to bring their own ideas to Goodison Park.

They will not change their stance on Branthwaite’s future as the club looks to keep him moving forward.

Man United had attempted to sign Branthwaite during the summer transfer window, and Football Insider revealed that the 20-time champions have been tipped to line up another bid in the January transfer window.

It has been a tough season for Branthwaite personally, as he has only played one match due to a groin injury.

Unfortunately, the centre-back has now suffered another injury setback in the form of a thigh injury that has made him a doubt for Saturday’s match against Newcastle.
