Scott Allan does not believe Rangers will beat Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday as the Light Blues desperately seek a win.
Philippe Clement’s side faltered badly in the first Old Firm of the season at Celtic Park before the international break and as a result sit five points behind their bitter rivals.
Aberdeen – the Gers’ league opponents next month – also own a 100% record, with a response needed by Clement and his players against the Dundonians.
Allan, speaking on the PLZ Football Show [11 September, 32:40], holds little faith in an away victory this weekend as when asked by host Peter Martin for his prediction, he responded: “I think it will be a draw.”
When Martin added: “A draw’s not good enough,” Allan went on: “No, it’s not. That’s only based on what I’ve seen this season.
“I don’t think Rangers have given anybody a lot to be desired in terms of what performance you’re going to get – it’s been very off the cuff, and Dundee United have been very good at home.”
Rangers must deliver a performance at Tannadice
Rangers have to respond and quickly. The international break off the back of a dismal Old Firm derby will have killed the mentality around the training ground and has certainly been a body blow to the fans.
The fact Celtic have so far left zero room for error makes matters even less ideal, with the Light Blues and Clement now under pressure to go and deliver.
Dundee United know how to make things difficult and it will certainly not be a walk in the park against a side yet to lose at home since Airdrieonians managed it back in February.
An old-fashioned stadium full of buoyant supporters who for once will feel they have a real shot at securing a memorable win over one of the Glasgow giants makes for a challenging atmosphere.
The Gers have to simply overcome each obstacle this tasty Sunday midday has to offer, and a return to winning ways will start to repair some of the damage.
In other Rangers news, the club will take a financial hit to return to Ibrox as quickly as possible.
