Wenham 'desperate' for £100k/wk Tottenham 'Disaster' to be shipped out on Friday

John Wenham is “desperate” for Tottenham to offload unwanted defender Sergio Reguilón.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has urged the North London side to strike a cut-price transfer agreement with a Turkish club.

As reported in the Sunday People’s print edition (8 September, page 53), Tottenham are keen to send Reguilón to the Süper Lig before the transfer window in Turkey closes on Friday (13 September).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has torn into the 27-year-old defender.

“I am absolutely desperate for him to be moved on,” Wenham said.

“He has never really contributed and he is on big wages. Therefore, he has been a huge disappointment.

“Hopefully, someone in Turkey takes him off our hands. Even if it means the club paying 20 or 30 per cent of his wages.

“Just as long as we’re not paying his full £100,000-per-week salary for the next year. He has been a disaster and he needs to go.”

Reguilón has no future under Ange Postecoglou. As a result, with just one year left on his contract in North London, the Spaniard will definitely be gone by this time next year.

However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be keen to offload the left-back to avoid paying another year of his wages.

With such few transfer windows still open around Europe, Tottenham are left with limited options.

It remains to be seen whether Reguilón would want to move to Turkey. However, one way or another, a solution needs to be found and found fast.
