Everton star's summer exit on 'Standby' as Toffees not ready to negotiate - report

Jarrad Branthwaite’s Everton exit and potential transfer to Manchester United is on standby currently, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported via GiveMeSport on Sunday (14 July) that the Toffees are not willing to negotiate with the Red Devils for the defender and are not inclined to accept a cut-price offer either.

United still hope that Sean Dyche’s side will change their stance between now and the end of the transfer window and they also believe Branthwaite still wants to make the move to Old Trafford this summer.

But Everton are making negotiations over the transfer difficult and therefore this transfer saga has been parked by both teams.

Will Everton sell Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United amid transfer speculation?

With Amadou Onana closing in on a summer transfer to Aston Villa, the Toffees will not need to sell Branthwaite this summer unless their valuation is met and United don’t appear willing to do that at this moment.

Things can change very quickly in the transfer window but it will have to be the Red Devils who up their offer, rather than Everton who drop their valuation if any party wants to try and get this deal over the line quickly.

So much could depend on whether or not United can secure their other defensive targets in the coming months. They are in the market for several centre-backs and whether or not they’re successful could alter their interest in Branthwaite.

Hopefully, Everton will remain difficult to negotiate with between now and the end of the window so that they can keep one of their most exciting talents at Goodison Park for the foreseeable future.

If United want to finally submit a genuinely respectable offer, maybe then negotiations could begin.
