Ex-West Ham scout drops 'big' Jarrod Bowen verdict

Jarrod Bowen is happy at West Ham and would not entertain the idea of an exit, according to the club’s former scout.

Mick Brown, who worked as a senior scout for the Hammers until he left alongside David Moyes in June, exclusively told Football Insider that the winger is comfortable in London and the club have no intention of seeing him leave.

This comes following major interest from both Newcastle and Liverpool during the summer transfer window, although no formal offers materialised.

Football Insider reported in August that the Magpies were weighing up their options to sign a new winger, with Bowen featuring on their list.

However, despite the interest from other Premier League clubs, the 27-year-old committed his future to the Hammers and is happy in the area.

Bowen signed a seven-year contract at the London Stadium in 2023 and was named club captain following the departure of Kurt Zouma in the summer.

This commitment both from the player and from the club, as well as the admiration he has from the fans, means any potential exit is not on the cards.

Football Insider revealed in July that the Hammers value Bowen at upwards of £100million and would be very reluctant to see him leave in the near future.

Brown, who worked closely with Moyes during his time at the London Stadium and remains well-connected at the club, insisted that the winger is happy and would not be looking to leave West Ham any time soon.

“He’s done fantastically well since joining West Ham,” he told Football Insider.

“I know he’s settled down there, he’s got engaged and he’s got a couple of children, he’s more than happy in London and things are going well for him.

“I know there was interest in him at one stage, but I don’t think he’ll be looking to move away from West Ham any time soon.

“He signed a big new deal and the fans love him as well, he’s an icon to them.

“West Ham are certainly happy with what he brings to the team and how he’s been playing.

“That’s thanks in large part to David Moyes and the work he did with him.

“But like I said, he’s perfectly happy there and I can’t see that changing at any point.“
