Exclusive: English club line up late move to sign Newcastle star on loan

Newcastle United midfielder Joe White is being lined up for a loan move to MK Dons before the transfer window closes on Friday, sources have told Football Insider.

Newcastle are happy to loan White out to allow him to gain some more regular first-team experience away from St James’ Park. 

The 21-year-old has previously enjoyed loan spells at Hartlepool United, Exeter City and Crewe Alexandra.

White joined Newcastle from hometown club Carlisle United in 2016 and penned his first professional contract with the north-east giants in 2019.

MK Dons are now eyeing a loan move for the midfielder before the 11pm transfer deadline.

After spending eight years at St James’ Park, White was handed his Newcastle debut in February this year against Bournemouth.

The former England youth international came off the bench in the dying moments of the game as his side played out a 2-2 draw.

Eddie Howe would go on to hand White a further three appearances throughout the remainder of the campaign, but he still only played a combined 12 minutes of Premier League football.

The midfielder does, however, possess reasonable experience in the Football League after making 57 appearances during his various loan spells.

White started in 19 of his 25 appearances for Crewe last season, scoring three goals and laying on three assists before returning to Newcastle in January. 

MK Dons are now lining up a move for the youngster, with the Tyneside club happy to send him out on loan again.

Mike Williamson’s side have had a slow start to the season after winning just one of their opening three games of the campaign.
