Exclusive: Birmingham line up move to sign Chelsea sensation on loan

Chelsea star Omari Kellyman is being lined up for a loan move to Birmingham City, sources have told Football Insider.

Kellyman only joined Chelsea in a £19million deal from fellow Premier League side Aston Villa earlier this summer.

Sources say Birmingham are now eyeing a loan move for the 18-year-old as they look to continue strengthening their squad.

But the League One club are up against the clock in their bid to sign the attacking midfielder as the transfer window is set to close at 11pm on Friday.

Kellyman joined Villa in March 2022 for £600,000 after he showed plenty of promise during his 10 years in the Derby County academy.

After impressing for the West Midlands giants’ youth sides, he made his professional debut in a 3-0 UEFA Conference League victory over Hibernian in August 2023.

But the teenager would only go on to make a further five appearances for Villa before making the big-money switch to Chelsea in June this year.

Kellyman signed a six-year deal following his arrival at Stamford Bridge and has been earmarked as a potential future star.

The attacking midfielder isn’t expected to be involved in the first-team setup in west London this season, having only featured for the Under-23s side in Premier League 2.

Birminham are now lining up a move for the England Under-19 international as they look to build a squad capable of securing an immediate return to the Championship.

Chris Davies’s side have had a solid start to the season, having won two and drawn one of their opening three games of the campaign.
