Kevin Thelwell is hopeful that Dan Friedkin will support and improve the Everton recruitment process when he takes over as owner.
The US billionaire is hopeful of taking over at Goodison Park by the end of December which could see him in charge for the January transfer window.
This will see Sean Dyche and Co. come under scrutiny from the new ownership but it appears Director of Football Thelwell is confident of receiving backing when the Friedkin comes in.
In an interview with iNews on 21 November, he said: “I would say the biggest piece for us now is we’ve got a lot of good process in place. The biggest issue we’ve got across the whole building – because we’ve not been able to invest – is recruitment. First-team men’s, women’s, losing talent, recruiting at younger ages can be improved hugely.
“I would hope new ownership would be supportive of that process. Once we get that resource that can help us a little bit with programme stuff, a little bit with process stuff, a little bit with recruitment stuff, I think we’re going to be in a really exciting place.
“I think we’re ready for that next evolution, is how it feels. Assuming they [the Friedkin Group] get regulatory approval, it’s just now a case of getting the new owners in, getting them bedded in, not going crazy but certainly being able to take the next step.”

The director at Goodison hasn’t exactly got the most glowing transfer history during his spell with the Toffees in terms of recruitment.
Despite having limited funds available, money has been wasted in some cases with Jake O’Brien and Beto being recent examples of high outlay additions with little impact.
These sorts of deals are unlikely to wash if the new ownership comes in ahead of the winter window and looks to make signings of their own.
Even with these transfer failings, it appears that Thelwell is confident in what he is doing and is looking forward to receiving the backing of the Friedkins.
He clearly believes in the process that the club have adopted and with some additional investment from the Roma owners across the board, recruitment will be something that he will hope can improve.
It will be interesting to see how the prospective new owners operate when they take charge on Merseyside and how they work with Thelwell moving forward.
In other Everton news, Friedkin can promise a January transfer war chest for Sean Dyche if a sale is finalised.
