Dan Friedkin may have already made an Everton mistake after reportedly agreeing to the loan exit of Beto from Goodison Park.
The Toffees’ attacking line has left a lot to be desired this term with neither of their number nines fulfilling expectations.
And, while the form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto has certainly been questionable, it feels strange for The Friedkin Group to have already agreed upon his exit.
Of course, Armando Broja is set to return imminently but if the reports from Calcio Mercato (16 November) are to be believed, the Friedkin’s may have a lot to answer for.
Why Everton allowing Beto to leave is a mistake
At the moment Everton have three senior number nines in their ranks for one spot in their starting XI.
This may seem a bit like overkill but when the injury histories of Calvert-Lewin and Broja are taken into account, it becomes clear why Sean Dyche has three strikers.
Beto and Calvert-Lewin have been in topsy-turvy form this term with some even likely believing the former to have had a better season.
Since he arrived at Merseyside last summer, Beto hasn’t really hit the ground running and while a loan move might seem to make sense for him to regain his confidence, a case could be made about him taking the Englishman’s starting spot.
Everton are currently 16th in the Premier League and if they lose any more firepower from their ranks, it’s hard to see how they’d manage to claw their way out.
Only time will tell if the American businessmen choose to go through with the deal but if they do, they could already find themselves in the bad books of some fans.
