Exclusive: Huge Everton takeover update tonight

Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake in Everton is valued at just over £350million, sources have told Football Insider.

The Everton chairman previously struck a £500million takeover deal with 777 Partners to sell his 94 percent stake back in September, but the US group were unable to finalise an agreement.

777’s exclusivity deal for a takeover expired at the end of May which allowed Moshiri to explore alternative takeover options over the summer.

As reported by the New York Times, three firm offers have already been made for the club.

Local businessmen Andy Bell and George Downing are understood to be part of a consortium to have launched a bid, while another consortium involving a member of the Saudi Royal Family is also in the race.

Sources have told Football Insider that business valuation models suggest that Moshiri’s stake in Everton should be valued at just over £350million.

That figure takes into account the club’s current debt levels including the £200million owed to 777 following their takeover bid.

Overall, it is estimated that Everton’s debt levels have climbed north of £500million this year.

It suggests that the £400million offer made by the consortium with a Saudi royal is actually over the estimated valuation.

However, the estimated value does not take into account the wide interest in the club with Moshiri likely to encourage a bidding war after multiple offers were tabled.

Ex-Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that the £400million Saudi offer is “hardly a strong bid”.
