West Ham have a “concrete” interest in signing Sunderland attacker Jack Clarke this summer, sources have told Football Insider

The Hammers held talks with Sunderland over a January move for the 23-year-old, but the Championship side were unwilling to sell him in mid-season.

Football Insider previously revealed the north-east club have resigned themselves to losing Clarke during the summer transfer window following the interest in him.

Sunderland value the English winger at more than £15million after he was named the club’s Player of the Year following a string of impressive performances last season.

Clarke has rejected a new contract at the Stadium of Light, with his current deal set to run until the summer of 2026.

West Ham are now weighing up a new move to sign him as Julen Lopetegui looks to add to his attacking options ahead of next season.

West Ham could move to sign Jack Clarke after impressive form

Clarke has long been on West Ham’s radar after Football Insider first revealed in January they had registered an interest in securing his services.

The winger recorded 15 goals and four assists in 40 appearances in the Championship last season as Sunderland finished the campaign in 16th place.

The former England youth international averaged 2.8 shots per game, was successful with 60 per cent of his attempted dribbles and created 12 big chances.

That has prompted West Ham to register their interest in signing Clarke again as they weigh up making a bid to take him to the London Stadium this summer.

The east London club are believed to be in the market for home-grown signings this summer as they look to remain within the Premier League’s quota for British players.

Football Insider revealed technical director Tim Steidten has drawn up a list of domestic targets for the transfer window.
