Exclusive: Everton ready approach to sign another Leeds star

Everton are now turning their attention to a new move for Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto, sources have told Football Insider.

The Toffees, who wrapped up a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam on Saturday (22 June), are now in the market for a forward who can provide cutting edge.

Sean Dyche’s side have already allowed 21-year-old forward Lewis Dobbin to join Aston Villa and Football Insider revealed on Sunday (23 June) that Newcastle are in advanced talks to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Everton came close to signing Gnonto, 20, in last summer’s (2023) transfer window and have continued to closely monitor his progress at Leeds.

It is believed the Merseysiders are now readying an approach for the Italy international, who is keen to move on after failing to secure promotion back to the Premier League with the Whites.

Leeds fell at the final hurdle last month (26 May), losing 1-0 against Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley.

Gnonto started that game, one of 26 starts in 44 appearances across all competitions for Daniel Farke’s side last term.

He notched nine goals and three assists in those outings.

The versatile forward, who can play across the front line, is under contract at Elland Road until June 2027.

Everton are already closing in on a deal for one Leeds star, with Football Insider revealing last week (20 June) that they are poised to agree another season-long loan for Jack Harrison.

Farke’s side are expected to sell stars like Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville and more this summer after failing to achieve promotion back to the Premier League.
