Nottingham Forest are flying high at present as they moved into the Premier League’s top five thanks to their 3-1 win away at Leicester City on Friday night.
The Reds took the lead through Ryan Yates in the 15th minute and, even though Jamie Vardy equalised, Chris Wood’s second-half brace gave the visitors all three points.
Nottingham Forest have won four league games and drawn another four, putting them on 16 points, above the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.
Now, in wake of the Reds’ superb East Midlands derby win, the club is now looking to get one of their stars to commit his future to the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest plan to offer Chris Wood new contract
TBR Football understands that Forest are ready to open talks with Wood over a new contract at the City Ground.
Wood’s current deal expires at the end of the season, but has he proven a huge figure for the club since Nuno Espirito Santo took charge.
Indeed, during that time, only Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland has scored more.
Now TBR Football understands that Forest, who are ready to open talks with Nuno soon, will reward Wood with an extension prior to his deal running out.
Wood has found his home at Forest
Wood has been a revelation since joining Forest in January 2023 on a loan deal from Newcastle United with £15million obligation to buy.
He has seven goals from nine Premier League outings this season, and his overall Reds tally reads 51 games, 23 goals and one assist.
“Chris Wood, he has been a revelation since he came here from Newcastle,” Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports – via CaughtOffside – earlier this year.
“He found it tough at Newcastle, but he has been fantastic for Forest since he came in.”
Wood has made Forest his home and it would be great to see him commit his future to the club.
Hopefully there will be more good news on this front in the coming days or weeks.
