Curtis Jones has been lucky enough to play with some seriously talented players at Liverpool.
Jones has played with some world-class talents during his time at Anfield from Trent Alexander-Arnold to Virgil van Dijk.
Jones has been a part of a squad that has challenged for Premier League and Champions League titles.
Curtis Jones has previously named James Milner as one of the best players he’s ever played with, but now, speaking to Sky Sports, Jones has given a different answer to that question.
Indeed, speaking to Sky, Jones named Roberto Firmino as the best player he’s ever worked alongside ahead of Mohamed Salah, despite the fact he says Salah is one of the best players in the world.

Curtis Jones says Roberto Firmino is the best player he’s played with
Jones says that while Salah is a world-class talent, Firmino is the best player he’s ever shared the pitch with.
Indeed, the midfielder says that Firmino is a real footballer’s footballer, claiming that anyone who truly loves the game will appreciate Firmino as a player.
“It’s hard, I’ve played with a lot of lads, but in terms of goals, assists, moments in big games, he’s one of the best in the world since he’s come to our club in terms of goals and assists,” Jones said of Salah.
“This is where it gets tricky. The best player in my opinion that I think I have played with where I was like ‘wow’ and I was amazed by every single day was Firmino. Firmino, if you understand the game and you’re in love with the game and you take the goals and assists away. If you want to see someone who understands the game and brings everyone into play, he’s the best,” Jones said of Firmino.
What John Barnes said about Roberto Firmino
Jones says that Firmino was the best player he worked with at Liverpool, and this isn’t a fresh sentiment.
Indeed, John Barnes also said that Firmino was his favourite player at Liverpool ahead of Salah during his time at the club.
“The withdrawn centre-forward was my favourite player of Liverpool over the past 10 years, that’s Bobby Firmino, Salah and Mane did what they did because of Bobby Firmino. Now all of a sudden we have a different centre-forward, the midfield is different and Mo’s role is different, so it’s a transitional period,” Barnes said
Phil Thompson also claimed that Firmino was Liverpool’s best player when he was at Anfield.
“Bobby Firmino was my best player throughout this time. He was so exciting, twinkle-toes, he was the Ian Rush of that trio of Bobby, Mo and Sadio. Bobby was wonderful,” Thompson said.
Salah may be more impactful in terms of goals and assists, but in terms of technical ability and the finer points of what makes a talented footballer, Firmino may be just that bit ahead of Salah.
Firmino was a truly wonderful talent when he was at Liverpool, that’s for sure.
