Exlusive: O'Rourke update on Tottenham signing 'next Jude Bellingham'

Tottenham are closely watching Jamie Bynoe-Gittens’ situation at Borussia Dortmund with a potential deal in mind, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that any deal for the winger would come at a steep price given his age and how highly rated he is in Germany.

Bynoe-Gittens, who has been dubbed “the next Jude Bellingham” after his emergence at Dortmund, is an England Under-21 international and remains an important player at BVB.

In a similar fashion to Jadon Sancho, the 20-year-old left Manchester City’s academy to join the German club in search of first-team football, and has since made 67 appearances for the club.

As a result of the experience he has gained in the Bundesliga, multiple Premier League clubs are now tracking his progress and could look to bring him in.

However, while Tottenham are amongst those sides interested in a deal, sources say a new winger is not on their list of priorities as things stand.

Tottenham keeping tabs on Jamie Bynoe-Gittens progress

Since making the move from Man City’s academy setup in 2020, Bynoe-Gittens has gone from strength to strength and is now a regular in Dortmund’s starting XI.

So far this season, he has made nine appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists including two goals in two Champions League games.

The London-born winger scored twice in just 22 minutes on the pitch during their Champions League opening-day win against Club Brugge.

His performances both domestically and on the European stage have done his reputation no harm, with Premier League clubs now taking an interest.

At 20 years old, he would also fit into Tottenham’s new transfer strategy to recruit the best young players from across Europe.

While a new winger is not Spurs’ top priority as things stand, they could be tempted to make a move should he become available, and are keeping close tabs on his development.
