Expert View: Tottenham would demand £40m+ to sell ‘Key’ forward to Aston Villa

Bryan King has suggested Tottenham would demand a minimum fee of £40million to allow Dejan Kulusevski to join Aston Villa.

The ex-Spurs scout can’t see Ange Postecoglou allowing the Sweden international to leave North London.

As reported by Football Transfers (20 July), Aston Villa are keen to sign Kulusevski as a replacement for Moussa Diaby.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has backed the 24-year-old to remain put.

“I think Tottenham would want around £40million to let Kulusevski go,” King said.

“I’m probably being a bit conservative considering the prices being brandished about. However, why would Tottenham sell him?

“Since Postecoglou has been there, he has played in most games and in several positions. Spurs will be playing in Europe next year and they will need key players like Kulusevski within the squad.”

It is incredibly difficult to see this transfer going through.

Villa pipped Postecoglou’s side to fourth spot and a place in the UEFA Champions League last season. Therefore, that makes the two clubs direct rivals in the Premier League.

As a result, Spurs are unlikely to want to strengthen one of their closest rivals ahead of next season while weakening themselves at the same time.

Kulusevski scored eight goals and provided three assists in 36 league appearances last season, and Postecoglou will be hoping there is more to come from the forward next year.
