Pedro Neto has been at the centre of a number of transfer windows over the past two years, and it may finally be time for the winger to get his move.
The Portugal international, with all due respect, appears to have outgrown Wolves, and with a number of the Premier League’s elite sniffing around, a move could be on the cards soon.
Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing Neto’s future, and he says that he thinks there will be movement on this front in the coming weeks.
Jones says that Arsenal and Tottenham are both potential destinations for the £40m man, claiming that his agents are trying to get him a move this summer.
Pedro Neto expected to move
Jones shared what he knows about Neto.
“There’s talk about them (Liverpool) getting a left-back, Ait-Nouri from Wolves. Also from Wolves, Pedro Neto, they’re still around that conversation. I do expect movement around him. It could be Tottenham, it could be Arsenal, let’s see. I’m fairly sure that his agency are trying to get him out of Wolves this summer,” Jones said.
What Pedro Neto has previously said about Arsenal
Tottenham and Arsenal are both in for Neto, but it’s the Gunners who may have the edge in this transfer battle.
Indeed, Neto has previously admitted that he grew up an Arsenal fan.
“When I was a kid, my favourite team in England was Arsenal,” Neto said.
“Arsenal with Arsene Wenger (later on in his career), they don’t win trophies but they played very good football.”
That may give Arsenal an edge in this race.
Of course, Arsenal supporters have played for Tottenham before, and vice versa.
Matt Doherty was notably an Arsenal fan as a child, with his support of the Gunners even referenced when he joined Spurs, while there have always been rumours about Harry Kane supporting Arsenal.
Neto seemingly does prefer Arsenal to Tottenham, and that could give the Gunners the advantage needed to close a deal this summer.
