Ferguson tells Rangers to make transfer move for 18y/o gem who's 'Ready' to play at Ibrox

Barry Ferguson believes Lennon Miller is “ready” to play for Rangers and has urged the Gers to make a move for the youngster.

The 18-year-old has started the season in impressive form for Motherwell, having previously been linked with a move to Ibrox during the summer transfer window [Football Scotland, 10 July].

While most pundits and supporters believe it would take a big fee to prize the teenager away from Motherwell, Go Radio pundit Ferguson insists Philippe Clement’s side should be “all over” the youngster.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (7 October, 16:11) he said: “I do think there are players who are certainly good enough.

“Talking from a Rangers point of view, Derek mentions a young guy that we’ve spoken about on a number of occasions, young Lennon Miller.

“I think he’s ready. The boy’s ready to go and play, there’s no doubt about it and if I’m Rangers, I’m all over the top of that.”

It has become an all too familiar trend over the last few years that young Scottish talents have been ignored by both the Gers and Celtic and instead made the move either south of the border or onto the continent.

Players like Lewis Ferguson have been right under the Gers’ nose but for whatever reason have been ignored in favour of signing players from elsewhere in the world.

Rangers simply cannot afford to make the same mistake when it comes to Miller. The teenager is one of the most exciting talents in the Scottish game at this moment in time and would immediately walk into Clement’s midfield

While it will likely take a big fee to tempt Motherwell into sanctioning his exit, that will be a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things, particularly if the Gers are able to sell the 18-year-old on for a big money fee in the future.

Hopefully, Clement and his recruitment team will follow Ferguson’s advice and be all over a potential deal for the Motherwell gem. They would be naive to not at least attempt to win the race for his signature.
