Finance Expert: Tottenham can spend again after Archie Gray transfer

Dan Plumley has insisted that Tottenham are always in a position to splash the cash if they want to in the summer transfer window.

Spurs have already announced the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United, in a deal worth up to £40million, with Joe Rodon going the other way for £10million [Graham Smyth].

The finance expert admitted that if that fee is in one chunk, it is not easy to get money out of Tottenham and Daniel Levy in negotiations.

“From Tottenham’s point of view, they are a club who can always spend if they want to,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.

“We always look at them as a well-run club financially and they are quite hard in negotiations so it’s not easy to get them to part with cash even though there is a chance they can given their financial situation.

“If this deal has been done upfront and all in one hit, it shows they can enter the market where they want to.

“Again, it’s a long-term contract, it looks like there’s a real player in there, it could be a really good signing for them and typical of what they’ve looked to do.

“When you look at a deal like that and Spurs in the market, you’ve always had them down as a club that can spend if they want to.”

Sometimes when a talent like this becomes available on the market, you have to be quick to make a decision and Levy got this one spot on.

Ange Postecoglou is slowly being handed some of the brightest talent in world football, and if he is backed for the long term, something special could be on the cards.
