Finance Expert: Tottenham now worth £5.6bn after Amanda Staveley investment update

Tottenham are valued at £5.6billion after new Amanda Staveley developments in North London this season, according to football finance expert Dan Plumley.

The former Newcastle United chief is understood to be in advanced talks to acquire a minority stake in Spurs, with Stan Collymore suggesting Middle East investors could buy a 12.5 per cent stake for £700million [CaughtOffside, 17 October]

Although Plumley initially believed the Liyhwites were valued closer to the £4billion mark, he believes these latest developments show that Spurs are in the Premier League’s “elite” group of clubs currently.

“It puts the total valuation at £5.6billion if you run that through on a straight calculation,” Plumley exclusively told Tottenham News.

“We’ve always looked at Spurs at least in and around the £3billion to £4billion mark.

“Given the other stuff they’ve got going on with the stadium, future plans and the revenue generation through that, you look at what the figure for Chelsea was and what was the perceived value of Manchester United was when Ineos bought that 25 per cent stake, it is in that kind of ballpark.

Will Amanda Staveley take over Tottenham after Newcastle United exit?

“It’s an impressive figure and that is to be the cost of 12.5 per cent and it is £700million then that’s putting the club in and around the £5.6billion total valuation figure which is impressive.

“But we’ve seen them be very savvy in terms of the way they operate their finances so they’re certainly in that elite group of Premier League football clubs in terms of valuation.”

Although no deal has yet been confirmed by either the club or Staveley herself, reports suggest that non-disclosure agreements may well be in place for both parties as negotiations run on [The Athletic, 23 October].

Plumley previously told Tottenham News that these agreements are commonplace in such financial deals and will allow both Spurs and the former Newcastle chief to continue their due diligence around a potential deal.

While the exact details of any potential agreement are unlikely to be immediately revealed to the public, Levy’s work in North London has seemingly paid off.

In other Tottenham news, the North London club and Chelsea want to sign an Arsenal player.
