'For a Rangers man...' - Ireland star makes admission as player exits Ibrox

Enda Stevens has responded to John Lundstram’s social media statement to Rangers fans after leaving Ibrox with a Celtic-based message.

The Englishman released a message to Gers fans via Instagram (5 June) after the announcement that he would be leaving the club this summer.

This saw plenty of replies come in with former Rangers and Sheffield United teammates like Tom Lawrence, Chris Basham and Stevens giving their support.

The latter, being from Ireland, is likely to be Celtic-leaning and so his comment makes plenty of sense. He said: “For a Rangers man, you’re a class act.”

It will be of frustration to Gers fans that Lundstram is leaving Ibrox this summer after being one of the club’s more consistent players since signing.

Despite him having a shocker in the Old Firm recently, his form across the course of the season can not be overlooked.

It is a testament to the Englishman as a player and character that former teammate Stevens can show his support despite being on the wrong side of the derby.

The Republic of Ireland international has never featured in an Old Firm so this Instagram message is at least a subtle dig.

Lundstram has had a positive season and letting him go could prove to be a mistake although he doesn’t appear to want to stay this summer.

Turkey appears to be the likely location for the Englishman to land after his departure from Ibrox and it is clear he has the blessing of ex-teammates.

In other Rangers news, weeks of negotiations are now on the cards at Ibrox with Gers aiming to strike a multi-million transfer deal to sign an international attacker.
