George and Andy Costigan shared their wish for Sean Dyche to depart Everton with his dignity intact.
The Blues boss is seemingly teethering towards an abrupt end to his Goodison Park tenure, with his side primed for another relegation scrap this season.
However, the Costigan’s appeared on the Talking the Blues Podcast [26 November, 26:22] with The Esk, and while they feel discussing Dyche is a “waste of air”, the brothers would like to see the manager leave Merseyside with his head held high.
George said: “It’s not pretty [Dyche’s style], it’s not attractive. He’s not a bold man, but you know, I just hope it’s for his sake. I hope he gets out of it with dignity. I don’t think he’s got any more to offer and he knows.”
Andy added: “No, I don’t think he’s got any more to offer.”
Sean Dyche should enjoy his remaining days at Everton
It is indeed the worst-kept secret in football that once Dan Friedkin completes his prospective takeover of Everton, he will begin the search for Dyche’s successor to lead the new era at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Dyche has cut a defeat figure on Merseyside this season; the results have not gone his way, and he will undoubtedly be questioning his own ability to lead the side with every available manager under the sun linked as his possible replacement.
However, The Friedkin Group are “fully concentrating” on the ongoing takeover rather than future-planning with the Blues [Alan Myers]; therefore, Dyche has a safety blanket at Goodison Park until the process is complete at the very least.
After the 0-0 draw against Brentford on Saturday [23 November], Everton will face the gauntlet in the Premier League with Manchester United up next, followed by a Merseyside derby at Goodison Park and clashes with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
The supporters are crying out for a display of spirit and willingness to fight for the badge from the players – if there was ever a time for Dyche to steer away from his pragmatic approach, it is now and gift the Everton faithful the attacking football they desire with his future set in stone.
Dyche will be remembered for his heroic efforts last term, securing the Toffees’ Premier League status with a comfortable 15th-placed finish after two PSR imposed point deductions, but still, the cycle of surviving relegation must end, and it will – but for now, the boss should enjoy whatever time remains and bid farewell to Goodison Park with a bang.
