'For sure' - Alan Myers issues claim on Everton spending 'Big Money' in January post takeover

Everton are unlikely to be spending big money in the January transfer window post the takeover, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports news editor reported on 1 November that while The Friedkin Group are primed to take over the Toffees, they are not expected to go all out in their first window in charge of the club.

However, he is sure that there will be movement and it’s not going to be a status quo scenario in the new year.

Via X, he wrote: “I’ve not tbh, they are working very quietly and diligently from what I can see. I doubt big money will be spent but I think there will be movement for sure.”

Everton face a crucial transfer window as they aim to stay in the Premier League

The Friedkin Group’s approach to the January transfer window reflects a strategic caution following their takeover.

While extensive spending might be off the table, there’s an expectation of strategic movements, possibly focusing on loans or lower-cost transfers that could still enhance the squad.

This approach allows Everton to assess their standing under new management without significant financial risk, ensuring they navigate the transition period wisely.

Discussions with key figures like Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche would be crucial at this stage to align visions and prepare for any opportunistic signings that could fit within the budget constraints, focusing on quality and potential rather than quantity or high-profile names.

It may also be wise to allow Dyche to see out the rest of the season as it wouldn’t make sense to ask someone to come in to shape things up when things aren’t really that bad.

However, these decisions must be made soon as within a few weeks, work surrounding potential incomings and outgoings is expected to begin.

In other Everton news, the club are set to have a new manager next season as multiple players now face an uncertain future.
