Kieran Maguire speculates Friedkin talks with legal advisors to clear up Everton red flags

Kieran Maguire believes Dan Friedkin and his legal team have found a solution to take over at Everton despite reservations over 777 Partners.

The Toffees are in negotiations with A-Cap over £200million the American private investment company who were interested in taking over at Goodison before a deal was rejected by the Premier League.

There has been some reluctance from TFG to work with 777 but now the firm has collapsed, leaving their other clubs in disarray, and Maguire has shared his belief, on The Price of Football podcast on 17 October, that legal advisers have found a solution to any concerns.

He said: “I think this will be resolved, there is a willingness on behalf of The Friedkin Group to move this forward, it is a pain in the backside.

“The concern that The Friedkin Group had initially in relation to 777 is that because it looks like 777 are exposed in terms of what they owe quite a few people and there are question marks about some of their other activities.

“Could there be a consequence which Friedkin didn’t want to get involved with three or four months ago? But presumably, it has spoken to its legal advisers and they say they think there is a solution to this.”

Dan Friedkin seeks legal advice ahead of Everton takeover

It is safe to say that the Toffees have dodged a bullet with 777 Partners after they showed an interest in a takeover between September 2023 and May 2024.

With A-Cap dealing with the Miami-based company to liquidate their assets, it is safe to say that they would have caused even more turbulence at Goodison Park.

It has been a difficult time for supporters under Farhad Moshiri as it is, which is why it is such a boost to have missed out on a deal with 777.

The Toffees do still owe the private investment company £200m but that has been slashed to £66m with the rest set to be converted into a manoeuvrable debt with future potential of shares in the club [The Athletic].

This is certainly a boost to Friedkin who had been put off by dealing with 777, but after seeking legal advice it appears that he is comfortable to move forward and find a solution on Merseyside.

In other Everton news, one star could now be let go in the January window as plan for one loanee has now emerged.
