Everton face strong competition to sign Hamza Igamane from Rangers, but Kevin Thelwell may well have a trick up his sleeve.

According to TBR Football [17 December], West Ham, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham and Newcastle United are also monitoring the 22-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.

The Blues are said to hold a firm interest after scouts were left “very impressed” with his performance against Tottenham in the Europa League.

Europa League finalists Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen, as well as Ligue 1 outfit Lille, are also in the mix, but Thelwell has something at Goodison Park that could steal the march in the race for the forward.

Everton could offer Rangers Nathan Patterson to secure Hamza Igamane signing

That is because Rangers are interested in an Ibrox reunion for Nathan Patterson on a loan deal until the end of the season [Daily Mail], and a deal could be struck which would benefit all parties.

While the interest in Igamane promises to be fierce, over at Goodison Park, Thelwell is playing 4D chess.

The Blues will allow Patterson to seek a short-term loan exit for more first team opportunities but have affirmed the stance that a move north of the border is not under consideration, with a Championship switch more likely [Daily Mail].

Everton have the perfect bargaining chip to sanction a potential deal between the sides, and with Rangers aware of the current stance on Patterson, Thelwell would essentially be doing Philippe Clement a favour.

Igamane has scored five goals since displacing Cyriel Dessers as the main focal point at Rangers, including a goal against Tottenham wherein Blues scouts were in attendance, having also contributed two goals and one assist in a 4-1 win against Nice.

Rangers are in a position to negotiate a sizeable fee compared to the £1.7million outlay spent to pry the forward from FAR Rabat.

However, including Patterson in the negotiations, whether that be loan or permanent, would certainly sweeten the deal.

Sean Dyche has no plans to integrate the Scottish international into the first-team fold at Goodison Park, opting to select 39-year-old Ashley Young and 36-year-old Seamus Coleman at right-back, so his departure would not affect the Toffees moving forward.

Therefore, Rangers can secure a long-term replacement for James Tavernier, and Everton can secure a long-term replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin – this sounds like a win-win for all parties involved.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche is desperate as another player is set to follow Calvert-Lewin out of the Toffees.
