Southampton could turn to Graham Potter if they decide to pull the trigger on Russell Martin, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 49-year-old former Chelsea manager is being eyed by the Southampton hierarchy as a potential replacement for Martin, 38.

Potter, who spent a year at Southampton as a player, has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023.

The ex-Brighton boss isn’t the only manager being lined up at Southampton after their dismal start to life back in the Premier League.

Football Insider revealed (September 20) that Blackburn manager John Eustace has also been shortlisted to take over.

Football Insider also revealed (September 22) that he could be in line to take over at Everton with Sean Dyche also facing an uphill battle to keep his job.

Martin’s side currently sit in 18th after drawing one and losing four of their opening five Premier League games.
