Four Lads predicts how much Rangers would pay for Barron transfer, it is 'no brainer'

Four Lads Had A Dream has predicted that Rangers would pay around £250,000 for exit-bound Aberdeen star Connor Barron this summer.

According to the Daily Record [16 June], the Gers have made an improved offer to secure the 22-year-old’s signature, with the player considering offers from a host of Championship teams.

It is understood that should Barron decide on a move to Ibrox this summer, Rangers will need to agree a compensation fee with the Dons or risk going to a tribunal to decide the fee.

Speaking via the Rangers Review YouTube channel on Monday (17 June), Stevie Clifford said: “It’s a no-brainer. We need to start picking up the best of Scottish talents. Connor Barron, for me, is an obvious one. What’s it going to cost? A quarter of a million pounds, right? And it’s low-risk completely.

“You’re basically taking Ryan Jack out of the squad and replacing him with someone 10 years younger. It’s almost entirely the same profile, the same type of ball player, he’s very strong off the ball, and he’s a ball-winner – you need that.

If you put someone like him next to Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande, how much will it improve them? He’s a good age, has a good profile, and is Scottish. It’s a no-brainer.”

Rangers to pay compensation fee for Connor Barron transfer

Considering Barron’s talent and potential, £250,000 should certainly be invested in the 21-year-old, and they must do it quickly before the player decides his future lies elsewhere.

The midfielder has made 76 first-team appearances since returning from his loan spell at Kelty Hearts and being thrown into the senior squad.

With 32-year-old Jack having left Ibrox after a seven-year stay, Philippe Clement will be eager to replace the midfield, especially with John Lundstram gone too.

Although Raskin and Diomande have been creating a partnership at the base of midfield since the latter’s arrival in January, the manager needs depth in his squad and Barron can offer that.

There are few natural defensive midfielders currently in the team, and very few players of Barron’s calibre, despite him still being 21 years of age.

It comes as no surprise to see the sheer amount of interest in the young midfielder, so Rangers must act quickly if they are to secure his signature this summer.

In other Rangers news, a fresh Lawrence Shankland transfer update has already emerged at Ibrox.
