Fulham ace Emile Smith Rowe uses one word to sum up Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Over the past few years, Arsenal have gone from strength to strength and are now regular Premier League title challengers.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has well and truly cleaned house at the Emirates Stadium and now has a squad full of world-class talents who also boast the right character.

In addition, the Gunners are making a name for themselves as a club that gives youth a chance and makes the most of their impressive academy.

Bukayo Saka is the standout Hale End graduate, but the likes of Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe also had solid spells at Arsenal.

Although Smith Rowe is no longer at the Emirates Stadium, he’s still plying his trade in the Premier League with fellow London club Fulham.

Smith Rowe has now spoken about Arteta as he picked one word to describe him in an interview with Sky Sports.

Emile Smith Rowe uses ‘detail’ to sum up Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Smith Rowe was interviewed by Sky Sports this week as he took part in Word Association.

When asked what word first came to mind when he thought about Arteta, he smiled and wrote down “detail”.

Smith Rowe explained his answer: “I think this is just a word to just explain how he works, you know, like just the attention to detail, just in terms of the tactics and stuff.

“Details just to everything, you know, the pressing or the playing out from the back and where you have to be in the right moment as an attacking player.

“And obviously he improved me a lot as a player as well so yeah, I can’t thank him enough.”

Smith Rowe also spoke highly of Bukayo Saka, and labelled Gabriel Martinelli one of the Premier League’s most skilful players.

Ian Wright’s Smith Rowe verdict

A few weeks ago, when Martin Odegaard was out, Arsenal legend Ian Wright said the Gunners are missing Smith Rowe.

“Obviously, we’ve got no answer to Odegaard not being there at the minute. You look at. I’m pleased to see Emile Smith Rowe kind of doing well as well as that number 10, but they had to make a decision,” Wright said.

“When you look at Odegaard and the void that’s left, I’m not saying I’d keep Emile Smith Rowe, because I don’t think he’s the same kind of player, but he plays in an area of the field where he gets on the ball, he creates, he tries to go forward, he does.

“And I think that we missed that the other day. We was playing this like horseshoe football. We didn’t feel penetrative or dangerous at all.”
