Chelsea are interested in bringing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi back to Stamford Bridge next summer.
Enzo Maresca’s side are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old’s situation after a move to Newcastle failed to materialise in the recently-shut window
The Tynesiders had four bids rejected for the central defender as they failed to meet Palace’s £70million valuation.
With Guehi’s contract set to expire in 2026, Newcastle’s failure to secure his signature in January could prove disastrous for their pursuit of the England international.
Chelsea join Newcastle in race for Marc Guehi
Guehi is currently with the England national team as they prepare to face Finland in their second UEFA Nations League game of the international break on Tuesday (September 10).
The defender was a standout performer for his country in Euro 2024, helping England reach the final before they ultimately fell at the final hurdle against Spain.
Since his £20million move from boyhood club Chelsea to Crystal Palace back in 2021, Guehi has gone on to make 115 appearances for the South London club, 111 of which were starts.
Guehi was named captain this season by new manager Oliver Glasner, taking the responsibility from fan favourite Joel Ward.
Palace held Chelsea to a frustrating 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on matchday three, earning their first point of the season.
In other news, Chelsea civil war could trigger shattering transfer blow.
