Fulham face fans revolt after 'shocking' Craven Cottage twist - Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted it is “shocking” to see Fulham charge at least £150 for tickets in the Riverside Stand for the visit of Arsenal.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed there is “fan unrest” at the club, but suggested supporters will “cave in” while Marco Silva’s side are performing well.

In a new twist in the ongoing row over ticket prices at the club, Fulham are charging between £150-160 for adult tickets in their new Riverside Stand for their game against Arsenal on 8 December.

However, tickets are available for the fixture elsewhere in the ground for as cheap as £35.

The new Riverside development opened earlier this year and increased capacity at Craven Cottage to just under 30,000.

Fulham fans protested ticket prices last season by holding up yellow cards during home matches at their historic stadium, which was built in 1896.

Fulham ‘taking advantage of fan loyalty’, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “This new build was always going to be a cash cow. Not just on matchday, but also Monday to Friday with leisure facilities.

“This is a notoriously wealthy area of London, right on the river in close proximity to Chelsea.

“The owners have always felt they can go there, in terms of pricing.

“But it is a shock, to see tickets at £150. I know there is fan unrest over this, I’ve been checking the chat boards and they are not happy.

“But the team are playing quite well and unfortunately the fan loyalty is being taken advantage of again.

“They don’t want to miss this decent season, because as a fan you want to see the team try and get one over on Arsenal in a London derby.

“Unfortunately, the fan loyalty is being tested again and they’ll probably cave in. These days, nothing is getting cheaper.”

In other news, Man United and Liverpool race to sign Fulham star, says insider.
