'Game's gone' - Ben Foster cannot believe what he saw Everton player do

Ben Foster has called out Idrissa Gueye for wearing leggings as Everton lost at Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Goodison faithful travelled to Hampshire on 2 November as Russell Martin’s team beat the Toffees 1-0 thanks to Adam Armstrong.

Gueye started the fixture in the middle of the park alongside Orel Mangala, and Foster could not believe how he prepared himself for the defeat.

“He’s got white leggings on. On the south coast, away at Southampton, it’s 15 degrees. He’s got white leggings,” he said on The Football Fill-In [4 November].

“I’m thinking, ‘nah, the game’s gone, lads’.”

Idrissa Gueye consistent at Everton

Gueye has been one of the few consistent players at Everton, and despite the loss at St Mary’s, the 35-year-old proved his worth on the pitch.

For the Goodison faithful, it doesn’t matter what the Senegal international wears if he puts in the performances he has been in the last few fixtures.

The midfielder was arguably the man of the match in the 1-1 draw against Fulham on 26 October, providing exceptional cover to the backline.

Gueye has an engine on him, and one can guarantee that the 35-year-old will work his socks off on the pitch.

The Toffees are desperate to have a few more characters like him in the starting line-up, and the Senegalese star will undoubtedly be vital for Sean Dyche to turn things around for the Blues.

With the game against West Ham up next on 9 November, the team have a chance to get back on track with the Hammers seemingly in the trenches after their 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.
