Gary Lineker thinks Gary O'Neil will be sacked by Wolves due to what he did after Everton 4-0

Gary Lineker believes Wolves will sack Gary O’Neil after his behaviour in an interview with Match of the Day following the 4-0 loss to Everton.

The clash was viewed as a ‘six-pointer’ due to the implications it had on the relegation battle and the Blues hammered the visitors at Goodison Park.

The Toffees had not scored in four Premier League matches heading into the contest but Ashley Young and Dwight McNeil produced at a time when the club needed it most.

Match Of The Day Lineker admitted that he would not be surprised if O’Neil was sacked as his attitude in the interview seemed miserable [MOTD, 1:00:57], saying: “Gary O’Neil’s demeanor there looked like he was thought that he was gone.

Micah Richards agreed, saying: “When a manager starts talking like that, ‘the club is bigger than me’, it looks like the writings on the wall”

Relief for Everton and Dyche after Wolves win

There was a lot of pressure on Blues manager Sean Dyche heading into the contest, his side were winless in their last five matches and had not scored a goal in their last four.

The clash with Wolves was highlighted as a ‘must-win’ with a brutal festive fixture list coming that features Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in their next four matches.

It was absolutely crucial that the Toffees won the match against a fellow struggling team and they did just that, in stunning fashion.

The victory will relieve a bit of pressure on Dyche in the short-term but depending on results in that horrible run of fixtures coming up, it may just be a temporary relief.

The Friedkin Group reportedly want to replace the former Burnley man and have started to sound out options ahead of their takeover.

For now though, Dyche remains in the dugout and fans will hope that this result gives the Blues momentum for the Merseyside derby on Saturday (7 December).

In other Everton news, Jarrad Branthwaite has reportedly suffered another injury blow in the win against Wolves.
