Gary Neville shocked by ‘Appalling’ Tottenham v Manchester United moment

Gary Neville was shocked by Lisandro Martinez in the lead-up to Tottenham scoring their second goal on Thursday.

Spurs crept past the Red Devils with a 4-3 win at home on 19 December, and Dejan Kulusevski doubled the North Londoners’ lead immediately after the break after a poor clearance from the Argentine defender.

Ange Postecoglou’s team dominated Ruben Amorim in the first half and took the lead through Dominic Solanke, with the Lilywhites pouncing on another opportunity just after halftime before carnage ensued.

Speaking live on Sky Sports [19 December, 21:07], Neville said: “A blistering start to the second half from Spurs, but Martinez’s clearance is appalling, it is wimpish, unlike Kulusevski’s finish.”

Tottenham survive embarrassment v Manchester United

Dominic Solanke’s brace and Dejan Kulusevski’s strike had given Spurs a comfortable cushion, but the North Londoners almost collapsed in the second half.

Joshua Zirkzee and Amad Diallo got the Manchester club back into the game, and they started to dominate the proceedings.

The North Londoners were ahead with a comfortable three-goal lead but Fraser Forster decided to add some excitement to the fixture for the neutrals.

After gifting Man United two goals, the English shot-stopper was once again at fault as Amorim’s team scored their third goal, with the ball sneaking through the Tottenham goalkeeper’s hands.

Postecoglou was fortunate that Son Heung-min had increased the Lilywhites’ lead before Jonny Evans found the back of the net.

Spurs have Liverpool up next in the Premier League on Sunday [22 December] and will need to be more solid to get a positive result against Arne Slots high-flying team.
