'Goodbye' - Another new Rangers signing thanks his former club as he leaves

Clinton Nsiala has posted a heartfelt Instragram tribute to AC Milan on his way out after agreeing to join Rangers.

The Light Blues confirmed via their official website on 10 June that the young Frenchman will join on 1 July after signing a pre-contract.

Nsiala is set to become the third signing this summer, joining Brazilian defender Jefte and a deal to bring last season’s loanee Oscar Cortes back to the club.

The 20-year-old, translated to English: “The time has come to say goodbye to this team, I do so after three years of personal and professional growth. A team that has become a family and that took me as a child and now leaves me as a man. A team and a coach who believed in me until the end.

“Speaking of coach, Ignazio Abate if today I am what I am besides my feet and hard work, it was above all thanks to you who always believed in me and who continues to do so.

“I am proud to have worn the AC Milan shirt. Thanks for the support. Thanks to AC Milan. The journey continues.”

Philippe Clement lands new Rangers defender

Philippe Clement clearly wanted to work on his defence this summer after making early moves to bring in Jefte after the January complications delayed a move, and re-signing Leon Balogun.

A deal to land Jose Cordoba looked set to be secured early before the club pulled out at the 11th hour, before interest in Thomas Galdames quickly followed.

But it is Milan youngster Nsiala that is now on the way to reinforce the central options at Ibrox, although with zero senior appearances to his name it seems unlikely he will be the last recruit at the position.

Current options have been tipped to leave this summer, and a move to land a commanding senior central defender would improve the look of the group significantly.

Balogun is arguably the closest Rangers have to that currently but he is about to turn 36, and while John Souttar made significant advances last season he is still inconsistent, and long-term first choice Connor Goldson seemed to regress just as much.

Souttar’s brother Harry has long been linked to a move and is expected to leave Leicester City this summer [Football Scotland, 9 June], while the chance for the two siblings to line up alongside each other in Glasgow has been given the full support of one half of a pair of famous former Gers brothers.

In other Rangers news, an Abdallah Sima decision is closing in as a record-breaking agreement is set to be secured.
