David Moyes has relocated to Lytham, St Annes, which is an hour away from Finch Farm, the Everton training ground, according to Hughie Southon.
The westhamfootball.co.uk founder and journalist wrote on 4 October that the former Toffees and West Ham manager is no longer staying in East London and has moved back to his family home in Lancashire.
The Scotsman has been linked with the Toffees job given the uncertainty over Sean Dyche’s future and HITC journalist Graeme Bailey [24 September] even claimed that he’s the favourite to take over the helm at Goodison Park.
Southon wrote on X: “Former West Ham manager David Moyes and his wife Pam have moved back to their home in Lytham, St Annes after Moyes spent much of his time in East London while at West Ham.
“His wife spent a lot of time back in her native Glasgow while her husband worked down south reuniting during International breaks. Their Lancashire family home is around an hour’s commute from Everton’s training ground.”
David Moyes would be an appointment Everton fans can get behind
The timing of Moyes moving to an hour away from Finch Farm is certainly convenient and he’d be an appointment that the fans could get behind if the Friedkin Group ends up sacking Dyche.
This could indeed position him favourably for a potential return to Everton, especially amidst the speculation over Dyche’s future.
Moyes’ history with the Toffees, where he managed the team from 2002 to 2013, is marked by consistent top-half finishes, European qualifications and a reputation for stability and tactical nous.
His understanding of the club’s culture, combined with his recent experience in managing West Ham to success, including a major trophy win, suggests he could swiftly reintegrate and possibly restore the club’s competitive edge.
The Scotsman’s familiarity with the local area and the Premier League landscape makes him an appealing choice for the Toffees who are aiming to capitalise on a manager who’s not just tactically adept but also sentimentally linked to the club’s recent glories.
It remains to be seen if things do end up materialising with regards to him moving back to the club.
