The Esk tells TFG to provide 'Clarity' after recent Everton takeover announcement

The Esk has urged the Friedkin Group to provide Everton supporters with some “clarity” on the next steps of their takeover.

The Roma owners have agreed a historic deal with Farhad Moshiri to acquire his controlling stake at Goodison Park, with the deal still subject to approval from the Premier League, FA and the FCA [Fabrizio Romano, 23 September].

While reports suggest that TFG’s takeover doesn’t hinge on the decision of the court presiding over A-Cap’s legal dispute with Leadenhall [Liverpool Echo, 3 October], Toffees financial expert The Esk has told the prospective new owners to keep the fans in the loop.

Writing on their website on Friday (4 October) The Esk said: “The Friedkins are not renowned for excessive communications.

“At this time though, particularly given how sensitive the takeover is to Everton Football Club’s future and the uncertainties Everton fans have had to deal with for more than two years, clarity on what happens next would be a wise divergence to their usual communications strategy.”

What is happening with the Everton takeover at Goodison Park?

As The Esk suggests, Toffees supporters have been through a lot over the last couple of years and it does feel as though they would benefit from a bit more transparency from their potential new owners.

Although fans won’t be expected to be kept in the loop of every minor update in and around Goodison Park over the coming months, it would certainly ease the tension if they knew exactly what stage the deal was at.

Since the initial announcement, there has been very little noise from either Everton or TFG. While the Roma owners are quieter in their style than John Textor or 777 Partners, the silence doesn’t really appear to help anyone.

Hopefully, the coming weeks will see some genuine updates emerge on the blue half of Merseyside. Although the takeover isn’t believed to be under any threat of collapsing, fans will want to hear that from the horse’s mouth rather than various reports.
