Pep Guardiola could look to retire after leaving Man City, having achieved all he can in England, Spain and Germany.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Scotland striker Frank McAvennie explained that the all-conquering manager has done all he can in Europe and may choose to leave and relax with his family.

Another suggestion he’s made is that Guardiola could make the switch to the MLS, as many footballers who have achieved all they can in Europe have in the past.

This comes after the Spaniard ruled out a possible return to Barcelona.

Football Insider was previously told he could leave Man City as a result of the 115 financial charges levelled against the club, with an exit on the cards upon the end of his contract.

Guardiola won two Champions Leagues, two Club World Cups, three league titles and two Spanish Cups with Barcelona and three league titles, two German Cups and a Club World Cup with Bayern Munich before his move to England.

Since moving to Man City, the boss has overseen six Premier League title wins, one Champions League, one Club World Cup, two FA Cups and four League Cups, with new experiences now in short supply.

McAvennie insisted he will have inspired a new generation of young coaches, and could now opt to retire and spend time with his family.

I don’t know where he’s going to go. Where can he go?” he speculated to Football Insider.

Maybe he’ll go and break America.

He talks about it being Johan Cruyff who inspired him, and now all these young coaches coming through will be inspired by Pep.

I don’t know where he would go.

He’s got so much money and he’s got a family, maybe he’ll call it a day. He could be on his own island somewhere just lying in the sun and watching everybody else suffer.

He’s been in Germany and won everything in Germany, he’s been at Barcelona and I don’t think he would go to Real Madrid.”

In other news, Aston Villa have thrown their weight behind Man City against the Premier League.
